Lake Michigan, at the end of the Stonington Peninsula, there is a stretch of empty beach. Part of the Hiawatha National Forest, is designed on both sides of private property, without any readily available. A walk on the beach, but it is legal. Begins after the last space, public areas, and goes to six or seven kilometers. This is where I wanted my skills and Ultralight Backpacking Gear Test
I walked a few kilometers from the first day and explored the woods, where I ate wild blueberries for an hour.So I said the field behind a small hill on the beach. I collected dry grass at the edge of the forest, offers a good mattress. I opened my backpack Plane rather high, so that the wind would keep away the mosquitoes. Once camp was set up, I went for a swim.
This area has many types of cancer that has the look and taste like mini-lobsters. After swimming I took a dozen under the rocks in shallow water, and brought to the camp in a container of whipped cream I found. You neverknow what wash on the beach.
I cooked with a little 'heart cattail roots and Primrose, pan, in my good three ounces. Has a good meal with the crackers I brought. (Remove the meat from the tail of cancer, after cooking).
It was summer, so I had brought a sleeping bag. With seventeen ounces my bag was not used much my pack weighing eight pounds. I just wanted to try using a line of nylon bag I had recently sewn (5 ounces). I had myClothes to bed, including a hat, I have the sleeve of an old thermal shirt (1 ounce). I slept well and eat cereal bars for breakfast.
The water was everywhere, so I only had a 16-oz plastic bottle pop (1 ounce) and a few iodine tablets for purification. I have a good drink before packing.
I put fresh tracks on the beach. The bear was gone within 60 yards where I slept. I had a freon horn (2 ounces), which, after reading that people used to buyHigh-bear cry decibles scare. I pulled out. I followed the tracks in an hour, but only because I wanted in that direction.
I had two old cabins to explore, a patch of berries I knew, and a beach full of things to check. The most strange that bathes regularly onions. I take them home to use them. After years of searching for them, finally, a sailor told me they throw them off the ships to fire on them in the water. I found thatunanswered.
The next day he returned. The rain I expected never came, so I try my garbage bag rainsuit (2 ounces), but I had a similar success already in use. Overall I was satisfied with my ultralight backpacking "test". Of course you can get with the fragile clothing and equipment when you leave an open sea. Oh, and I never saw the bear.
